With the supply chain slowed, construction schedule flatly halted and endless delays on stated delivery dates, this young California family waited over 18 stressful months for their possession day. More Pressures: Meantime as market costs escalated and loss of rental revenue continued, economic pressures escalated making the waiting process even more challenging. We pivoted and implemented a finance plan for all clients to spread project costs over the long months of uncertainty ahead.
Destination Design with Purpose: Luckily our destination design process is set up to predict the unpredictable. And anticipate the bumps along the way. As furnishings arrived, we offered all clients extended warehousing support. What we all thought would be a few months dragged out over a year long with no end in sight. Eventually our team ramped up services at our bulging, at-capacity warehouse to include monthly fumigation and stock rotation and even free storage of our clients personal items. As this family’s personal art, housewares and other belongings arrived, we palletized them safely for the final staging.
The Concept: A Fresh Farmhouse in the Sky
The Concept: During our initial design sessions, a unified monochromatic palette of greys was created to showcase the modern farmhouse decor theme. Iconic details like black iron and natural wood unify the space throughout. Cozy throws, fluffy flokatti rugs, woven baskets and farmhouse pillows with geometric cross stitch patterning create the eye candy in each room.
On the Move: On the much anticipated move-in day, our moving crews were ecstatic to start the process of creating this fresh farmhouse in the sky. With such an extended lag from concept to delivery, we discovered that many construction specifications had changed, electrical conduits were not where we expected, architectural details were different from original developer renders and we modified aspects of the plan to fit the new floor plan.
The move-in process was difficult. With construction still in process, elevators were not functional, access was through a muddy dirt road and crews worked overtime to haul huge items like a trundle sleep sofa and solid wood dining table up 20 flights of unfinished cement stairs. Cut to The Big Reveal: Now fully installed and launched as a luxury rental property, this high floor corner unit features an immense wrap-around balcony on two sides. Fully kitted with commercial grade outdoor furnishings, sunbrella pillows and all-weather rugs, this outdoor space is an absolute stunner. A full program of property upgrades, including custom washroom fixtures, mirrors, tile upgrades and more make this a sublime destination to host guests.
