Color Drenching | Intense by Design

What is it? The intensity of "Colour drenching" is simply irresistible. This dynamic interior design technique is mastered by painting an entire room, including walls, ceilings, trim - and even the furniture - all in the same color or a closely related palette.  This monochromatic approach creates a cohesive and immersive space, in one single tone.  The effect is surprisingly calming and reassuring. And that’s something we all need in a sometimes chaotic and unpredictable world.

The intensity of this primary suite is achieved thru tone on tone elements in a monochromatic palette of forest greens.

Getting Started: How do we apply this technique to the beachy coastal vibe of vacation homes and rental properties? It’s not always dark and brooding.  Color drenched palettes are custom created and range from soft and neutral all the way to intense and dramatic.

Soft and neutral is the key to this color drenched vacation residence, enhanced by subtle textures and accents.

Make it Your Own: First, select a color you love and one that lasts the test of time. Then match all the pieces as closely as possible, including walls, woods and WOW factor art (this is not the time to be shy!) And finally, layer on textures with tactile rugs and fabrics, detailed decor elements and lighting to showcase the entire room.

The dramatic impact of color drenching in this oceanfront property is achieved by matching the farmhouse slatwall to the linen upholstery.

PRO TIP: Many of our recent projects feature customized carpentry in color-drenched hues, created to precisely match the paint palette of each room. This highly coordinated detail isn’t always easy as several trades teams must coordinate their paint batches.  But the effect is truly sophisticated and subtle.
